The Zanja Bicentennial is a free community event recognizing the 200th anniversary of the Mill Creek Zanja, which brought water from the mountains down to the Redlands and Loma Linda areas. This event will trace the history of this waterway, from the history of those who constructed the zanja, to its role in Mormon settlement in the valley, to how it gave rise to the citrus industry. The event will include various children's' activities including an art contest, coloring, and a smudge pot toss as well as various exhibits and tours covering the history of the zanja and its construction, how the zanja changed the food grown in the valley, and its relationship to water rights.
